Find out what size storage space you need.

The best way to determine the size:

Properly taking inventory of your household goods is by far the best way to do this; this can be done in three ways:

  1. Create a detailed household inventory list
  2. Use Eurobox’s space calculator
  3. Make a rough estimate based on approximate volume

The good news is that we can help you with all three options! We will explain each method below:

  1. Create a detailed household inventory list; this can be digital or on paper. For each room in the house, note which items need to be stored, measure their dimensions to determine each item’s volume, calculate the total volume per room and then add them all together. We have prepared a list for you to use:
  2. On a tablet or mobile phone, open our website’s space calculator and enter what you wish to store per room. The calculator will give you a recommendation based on your entries, and you can immediately request a price quote. You can find the space calculator here: Euroboxselfstorage.nl/ruimtecalculator..
  3. Walk through your home with pen and paper and estimate the volume (in cubic metres) of everything you plan to store, then add up those figures.

Extra tip: simply drop by without obligation to view the different unit sizes. Often, once you’ve seen them, you’ll know exactly what you need. You can do this with or without an appointment, and it’s always non-binding!

Which sizes are commonly used for household storage?

Small storage units (3–15 m³)

Small storage units are ideal for storing boxes, small furniture, archive material or seasonal items such as winter clothing and Christmas decorations. The larger variants are perfect for private individuals who need temporary storage during a partial move or renovation.

Medium storage units (18–45 m³)

Medium storage units provide enough space for the contents of an apartment or a family home. They are suitable for storing furniture, appliances, boxes and other household items. These sizes are popular with people who need to store their entire household for a period of time.

I can’t be bothered to calculate everything…

We also have a simple way to estimate roughly how much storage space you need. Based on a percentage of your living area, we can give you a quick guideline. For an apartment, we use on average 10–12% of your living area; for a house with a garden, 8–10%. So, if you have a 90 m² apartment, you should calculate a storage unit with an area of 9 to 10.8 m², which corresponds to a volume of 27 to 32 m³.

Help, I’ve chosen the wrong storage unit size!

If you find you need more or less space, you can easily switch sizes at no extra cost. This gives you the flexibility to adjust your storage unit if the size turned out to be incorrect. Whether you need a smaller or a larger unit, it can be arranged at your Eurobox branch reception within five minutes.
